The "Libyan" Palette also known as the "Tjehenu" Palette dated from Pre-History and is inscribed into a single piece of Schist (JE 27434). This palette commemorates a royal occasion - either a victory, a hunt, or a foundation ceremony. It is divided into registers that are filled with three rows of animals represented in profile, a feature which introduces the conventions of Egyptian art. The palette has some early hieroglyphs which suggest it's association with the the area west of the Delta. |
